BIOGRAPHY

Kerem Hasan is regarded as one of the most exciting young British conductors. Winning the Nestlé and Saltzburg Festival Young Conductors Award in the summer of 2017 laid the foundation for his flourishing international career.

Prior to that, he had already gained attention as a finalist in the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London

and as Associate Conductor of the Welsh National Opera.

From 2019 to 2023, he served as the Chief Conductor of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck in Austria to great success.

Highlights of the 2023/2024 season include guest engagements with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra,

Dresden Philharmonic, SWR Symphonieorchester, and Turku Philharmonic.

He will make his debuts with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Kymi Sinfonietta, PHION Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and Collegium Musicum Basel. Further afield, in North America, Kerem Hasan will work together with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for the first time.

Returning invitations will take him to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, and Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música. 

Amongst his recent successes are opera performances at Opera North (La Rondine), at the English National Opera (Carmen, Così fan tutte), in Glyndebourne (The Magic Flute), Glyndebourne on Tour (The Rake's Progress),

the Welsh National Opera (La Forza del destino), and at Tiroler Landestheater (La TraviataSamson et Dalila, Rigoletto, The Rape of Lucretia).

He has worked with the Concertgebouworkest, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra,

BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, SWR Symphonieorchester, MDR Sinfonieorchester,

ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Vienna, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Filarmonica Teatro La Fenice, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 2022, he made his US debut with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra. 

In masterclasses, he received valuable advice from David Zinman, Edo de Waart, Gianandrea Noseda and Esa-Pekka Salonen, amongst others. At the invitation of his mentor Bernard Haitink, he assisted him with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Concertgebouworkest and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.

In the summer of 2016, Kerem Hasan first attended the Conducting Academy of the Aspen Music Festival, where he worked with Robert Spano. In 2017, he returned to the festival as Conducting Fellow and was subsequently awarded the Aspen Conductor Prize. As Assistant Conductor, he was in Aspen again in summer 2018. In August 2022, he returned to the Aspen Chamber Orchestra as guest conductor.

Born in London in 1992, Kerem Hasan studied piano and conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

He later honed his craft at the Zurich University of the Arts with Johannes Schlaefli.
